제2차 세계 대전이 종전한 지 70년이 넘은 오늘날 나치 독일과 전쟁을 직접 경험한 세대, 즉 생생하게 그 시절을 증언할 수 있는 세대가 점차 사라져가고 있다. 그러나 아이러니하게도 1990년대 이후 독일어권뿐만이 아니라 전 세계적으로도 나치 독일과 제2차 세계 대전에 대한 기억은 오늘날 과거 그 어느 때보다도 활발하고, 적극적이며, 매우 다양한 방식으로 이루어지고 있다. 기억은 문화적 사안이다. 20세기 초 유럽대륙의 한복판에서 일어났던 홀로코스트와 제2차 세계 대전은 어느 한 나라, 어느 한 문화권에만 해당하는 사건이 아니며, 당연히 어느 한 문화권에서만 ‘기억’되는 사건도 아니다. 언제, 어디서, 누가, 왜 그리고 ‘어떻게’ 기억하는지에 따라 그 하나의 사건은 다른 모습을 띤다. 따라서 본 강의에서는 나치 독일 또는 제 2차 세계 대전을 다룬 독일어권 문학 작품을 중심으로 경험 세대와 사후 세대의 나치 독일 및 제2차 세계 대전의 기술 및 기억 방식을 살펴보고자 한다. |

Today, more than 70 years after the end of World War II, the generation that directly experienced the war with Nazi Germany, that is, the generation that can vividly testify to that time, is gradually disappearing. Ironically, however, since the 1990s, not only in the German-speaking world, but also worldwide, memories of Nazi Germany and World War II are more active, active, and in many different ways today than ever before. Memory is a cultural matter. The Holocaust and World War II, which took place in the middle of the European continent in the early 20th century, are not events specific to any one country or culture, nor are they events that are ‘remembered’ only in one culture. Depending on when, where, who, why and ‘how’ you remember, the one event takes on a different look. Therefore, in this lecture, we will examine the description and memory of Nazi Germany and World War II in the experienced and post-generational generations, focusing on German-speaking literature dealing with Nazi Germany or World War II. |
